Daniel S. Hayes, Ph.D.

Mission Statement: Daniel S. Hayes, Ph.D. Because nobody comes into my office to tell me how wonderful life is, I've had the opportunity to study the problems that stand in the way of happiness and success, and although I've worked with a wide range of individuals - some profoundly troubled and some who need only a bit of steering - there is a common thread: a handful of skills we all need to "make it" in life. They're essential if we are to maximize pleasure, be happy, be successful, and make a positive difference in the world. A person who lacks just one of these skills will struggle to some degree to maintain healthy relationships, manage personal and professional life, make wise decisions, and raise well adjusted children. Ironically, these skills are not formally taught - in fact, they're not even recognized - and most everybody emerges from his or her family with some degree of imbalance: adept at some skills, completely missing others. The joy in my work comes in teaching these skills to people who are motivated and eager to learn - they know, on some level, that something is missing. Watching them light up with insight, absorb what they need, and use it to improve their lives is one of my greatest professional rewards.
